SUMMARY: The "St. Louis Gold Medal" line was built in recognition of the company's success at the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. The Selmer company won gold medal for their clarinets, and that inspired them to diversify their instrument production. The first saxophone designed by Henri Selmer started to be advertised in 1910 and manufactured at the workshop of Adolphe Sax Jr. at 84 Rue Myrha.
